Fitness and Exercise: Easier than It Seems
Many of us find the idea of maintaining a regular workout regime highly unappealing. Hitting the gym, lifting weights, going for a jog etc all of these require you to put the remote control down and move out of the couch. We have become very used to comfort and even when it comes to fitness, we would like an easy way out. We are looking for ways, which would require minimum effort, yet still help us in reaching our fitness goals.
Interestingly enough, there are a lot of things that you could do to step up your fitness game, which do not require you to bench press 35 kilograms. For example, taking the stairs instead of the elevator/escalator, whenever you have the chance is one easy way to incorporate a little cardio into your life. You could end up burning 7 to 8 calories a minute. And if even that seems like too much work for you, try chewing a piece of gum. Studies show that chewing gum not only helps burn calories, but the act of chewing, itself, deceives the brain into thinking that you are full.
Thanks to the extensive research already done on fitness and exercise; we have so many options to pick from. And much to everybody’s approval, relaxing and not doing anything at all can also help you escape consuming extra calories. It is common knowledge that exercising will increase your metabolism, which in turn will burn calories. Studies show that even not doing anything at all, and just relaxing may also help in fewer calories being consumed. When you are relaxed, your metabolism is relatively stable so you would end up not reaching for that second serving of lasagne.
Our lifestyles can be a huge contributing factor to the state of our health, good or bad. A highly stressful job, a bad sleeping schedule etc. can all be reasons why you may be out of shape. Getting adequate amounts of sleep can lower down the levels of your hunger hormone, ghrelin. Fewer hunger pangs mean less eating. It is important to keep in mind, that if you are looking to lose some serious weight, it is always best to start small and gradually build your way up. The key here is consistency. Whatever you do, you should stick to it. We find it easier to stick to things that we like so our hobbies may prove to be helpful in this regard. Activities like gardening, where you are crawling around, weeding away the roots and planting newer ones, can be a nice easy way of burning extra calories, while enjoying yourself.
From reducing stress, to improving the way your body looks; the benefits of staying fit are endless. These were just a few simple ways of burning calories or consuming fewer calories to begin with. Your specific fitness goals are going to help you determine how much exercise do you actually need, and then you can tweak up your exercise plans.
